With ONO, kids discover phonics using their senses
Direct and systematic instruction supporting oral language development and lexical awareness, as well as phonological and phonemic awareness, while integrating decoding (reading) and encoding (writing) processes.
Children never have to struggle to rely on remembering words visually, they discover and create a connection between speech and print and gradually improve their comprehension skills.
The Onomatopoeic Program uses the support of all the senses so that pre-readers easily make the connection between the artificial graph (letter) and the known phoneme (sound). We use the support of a hand gesture and a tactile bridge improving the retention of oral and written language into the brain’s working memory.
Tracking individual and whole-class student progress, while providing differentiation and scaffolding within the daily instructional sequence of practices and routines.
The Onomatopoeic program (Método Onomatopéyico) has been developed in Spanish by Mexican and Spanish pedagogists.
Information simultaneously perceived from multiple sources creates deeper neuronal pathways that foster retention and activation of new knowledge.
Mastering smaller steps of the reading process the the brain can focus on more complex comprehension
Onomatopoeic learning is used for bilingual students in Spanish speaking countries and it has been found to support all novice learners, developing critical thinking, making dyslexia harder to appear while allowing for simultaneous development of reading and writing skills.
Literacy skills will surely do the best to equipe our future generations with the right tools that meet future challenges and guide them towards their own success and independence.
The adequate learning method changes our students’ lives, turning their education into a self discovery journey, instilling in all of them the joy of learning about this world and the excitement of the creation of their promising future.
